Bio

Mara Motherway is vice president, Strategy and Business Development for Lockheed Martin’s Aeronautics business unit, a $25 billion enterprise employing approximately 30,000 people. She is responsible for leading domestic and international strategy and pursuits across all product lines within the Aeronautics portfolio, including F-35, F-22, F-16, C-130, and Advanced Development Programs, also known as the Skunk Works®, and more.

Mara joined Lockheed Martin in 2024 following a decade in the defense industry and more than two decades in the U.S. Navy. Most recently, Mara served as chief growth officer at Epirus, Inc., a high-growth technology company developing power management solutions and directed energy systems.

An experienced business and government executive with expertise in delivery, strategy, business development and public policy, Mara has served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including senior vice president of Government Affairs and Customer Relations at Peraton Corporation, corporate vice president and head of Government Relations and Military Affairs at Booz Allen Hamilton, and director of Special Projects and Strategic Capture at BAE Systems.

Her diverse experience as a U.S. Naval officer spans combat operations in the Middle East, acquisition oversight for U.S. government satellite and special communications, and current intelligence operations for the Chief of Naval Operations.

Mara graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor’s degree in political science and has a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University. She is also a distinguished graduate from the National Defense University with a master’s degree in national resource strategy.

She serves on the boards of the Stimson Center and Orion Talent, and she is a U.S. Naval Academy Athletic and Scholarship Programs trustee. She is a past board member of Blue Star Families, Jane’s Group U.S., the International Spy Museum and the National Defense Industrial Association.

Mara and her husband Bill, a retired Army officer, have three children. Mara is a longtime advocate for veteran transition. When she isn’t working, she enjoys fitness and attending her children’s sporting events.
