Bio

Lieutenant General Heidi J. Hoyle is a native of Bay City, Michigan, and was commissioned as an Ordnance Officer following her graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1994. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Management from West Point, a Master of Science Degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a Master of Science Degree in National Security and Resource Strategy from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School.

Lieutenant General Hoyle’s command assignments include the Commanding General of Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), Commanding General, Joint Munitions Command and Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command; Commander, 71st Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Group; Commander, 3rd Sustainment Brigade Special Troops Battalion deployed to Iraq in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn; and Commander, 761st Ordnance Company (EOD). Her key staff assignments include service as an operations officer and executive officer at the battalion level, Instructor, then West Point Associate Professor at the Department of Systems Engineering, Aide-de-Camp to the Director of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, Executive Officer to the Executive Deputy of Army Materiel Command, and Chief of Ordnance and Commandant, U.S. Army Ordnance School, Director of Operations and Logistics Readiness, G-43/5/7.

She currently serves as the U.S. Army, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 in Washington DC. Her military awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Non Article 5 Medal, and the Senior EOD Badge.
