Bio

COL Angela Scott hails from Quinton, Oklahoma. She commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps from the Virginia Military Institute in 2001, as a Chemical Officer and member of the college’s first co-ed class.

Angela has worked or advised in eight countries around the world, with two deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom, garnering experience with Joint and Multi-Component organizations. Her key areas of expertise are organizational leadership and management, senior advisement, strategic communication, multi-national and joint planning/integration, national security policy, and defense management. Angela’s previous position was at America’s First Corps in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, as Director of the Commander’s Action Group. She simultaneously acted as the Corps’ Chief of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE), managing CBRNE operational readiness, warfighting, and engagements across the Indo-Pacific.

COL Scott’s previous assignments include leadership positions as a CBRNE Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, Military Police Detention Company Commander, CBRNE Coordination Element Chief, and Corps Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion Commander. Her staff experience includes battalion logistics and operations officers for 83rd Chemical Battalion and 88th Brigade Support Battalion, operations officer for 48th Chemical Brigade, executive officer for 2nd Chemical Battalion, Secretary of the General’s Staff for 20th CBRNE Command, CBRNE Chief for America’s First Corps, and Force Protection Branch Chief, FDB, HQDA G8. Additional assignments include Instructor/Writer for the United States Army CBRN School, Instructor/Writer of Army Tactics and Doctrine for the Command and General Staff College.

Angela holds certifications in Army Red Teaming, How the Army Runs, and Small Group Instructor/Facilitator/Writer. In 2015, she attended the second co-ed Ranger Training and Assessment Course, as part of the Army’s preparation to open Ranger School to women. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Virginia Military Institute, a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Webster University, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from United States Army War College. She is an alum of the USAWC National Security Policy Program.

COL Scott has two daughters, Ava (14) and Olivia (13), who are both very active in sports.

Angela resides in Fairfax, Virginia. She enjoys reading, hiking, spending time with friends, and quality time with her daughters
