Marie Bussiere is the Technical Director at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT). She is responsible for leading the Department of Navy in full spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering, and fleet support for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapon systems and countermeasures associated with Undersea Warfare. Ms. Bussiere was promoted to the Senior Executive Service in March 2024 and has 36 years of civil service.

Ms. Bussiere began her career at the Trident Command and Control Maintenance Activity and has held a variety of leadership positions throughout her career. This includes an assignment at DASN RDT&E as the lead for the Enterprise Digital Battlespace and a member of the Unmanned Task Force. Ms. Bussiere was also a member of the AUKUS Pillar II Undersea Working Group as the U.S. country lead for Lethality. Ms. Bussiere has also served as the acting head of the Department of the Navy Modeling and Simulation Office. At NUWCDIVNPT, she served as head of the Undersea Warfare Combat Systems Department, head of the Undersea Weapons Acquisition and Life Cycle Engineering Division within the Torpedo Systems Department, head of the Logistics Product Development Branch within the Undersea Warfare Combat Systems Department, and Royal Australian Navy Replacement Combat System lead system engineer. She is also Division Newport's logistics functional area manager for the Naval Acquisition Development Program and NAVSEA’s Live, Virtual, Constructive M&S Knowledge Point Champion.

Ms. Bussiere received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Business Administration from Salve Regina University. She also received a diploma from the Naval War College for coursework in the areas of Strategy and Policy, National Security Decision Making and Joint Maritime Operations, as well as Joint Professional Military Education Phase I Certification and a Cybersecurity Fundamentals certificate from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Ms. Bussiere is the recipient of the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
