Matthew Hale is a Design Researcher at the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. His work focuses on enhancing human performance, system trustworthiness, and assessing user trust in AI and autonomous technologies. 

Prior to joining the SEI in 2023, Matthew was a UX researcher at iRobot where he specialized in front end innovation, competitive analysis, and usability in consumer robotics. 

Matthew holds a dual PhD from Indiana University.
