Dr. Coleman is a Chief Scientist and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for RTX BBN Technologies.  Since joining BBN in 1985, he has served as the Principal Investigator and/or Technical Lead on many programs sponsored by the NAVY, ONR, DARPA and proprietary customers. Dr. Coleman is a recognized expert in the development of large-scale adaptive control systems, signal processing, acoustics, and modeling of dynamic systems.  He is credited with making major contributions to several of the most complex applications of active control ever attempted by the Navy.  In his role at CTO, he oversees all IRAD projects at BBN.  In the past 5 years, several of these IRAD projects have focused on Synthetic Biology, Biosecurity, and Rare-Earth material extraction.
