Bio
Mason Clark is a National Security Fellow focused on Russia at the Institute for the Study of War. His research focuses on Russian military capabilities in Ukraine, the Russian military's ability to learn and adapt, and Russian command and control. Mason previously led ISW's Russia Team from July 2020 to December 2023. In that role, he designed and led ISW's standard-setting daily update on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Mason regularly briefs senior military and civilian decision makers on Russian military capabilities and the war in Ukraine. Mason has appeared on CNN, the BBC, MSNBC, and many others. He is also frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and other leading media outlets. Mason received a B.A. with Honors in International Studies with a focus on US Foreign Policy and Russian from American University’s School of International Service.
