Bio
Colonel Steven Power is from Eastern Long Island, New York and received his commission as an Armor Officer from Loyola College in Maryland. 
 
COL Power served as an Armor platoon leader and tank company executive officer in 2-12 Cavalry at Fort Hood, Texas; a headquarters company executive officer in 2-72 Armor at Camp Casey, Korea; a division staff officer in the 4th Infantry Division in Tikrit, Iraq; a brigade and battalion operations officer in 3rd Brigade 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado; and the commander of C Company 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, in Salah Ah Din Province, Iraq.  
 
As an Acquisitions Officer, COL Power was the Assistant Product Manager for the M1A1 variants of main battle tank at Product Manager Abrams and was an Assistant Product Manager on the Ground Combat Vehicle Program, both in Detroit, Michigan. He was a Test Officer for the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Ambulance, the Emergency Management Modernization Program (EM2P), and for several smaller programs at the Operational Test Command at Fort Hood, Texas.  COL Power worked at Intel Corporation as a Project Manager on their Business Transformation Services Team in Portland, Oregon, through the Army’s Training with Industry initiative. 
 
COL Power was the Product Manager for Individual Weapons, in PEO Soldier, where he was responsible for all of the Army’s small arms programs including the M4A1 Carbine, Modular Handgun System, Interim Combat Service Rifle, Tactical Shotguns, Squad Designated Marksman Rifle, Subcompact Machine Gun, the M320 Grenade Launcher, and the associated fire control systems and accessories.
 
COL Power’s most recent assignment was in the two-year Enhanced Command Preparation program at Joint Program Executive Office Armaments and Ammunition and at the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Plans, Programs, and Resources at the Pentagon.  This assignment was preceded by a year at the DEVCOM Armament Center headquarters. 
 
COL Power holds a BA from Loyola College in Maryland, MBA from University of Detroit-Mercy, and a MS from the Eisenhower School, National Defense University.  He is a certified Project Management Institute Project Management Professional.  COL Power’s military education includes Armor Basic Course, Airborne School, Abrams Tank Commander Certification Course, Engineer Captain’s Career Course, Acquisition Basic Course, Intermediate Contracting Course, and Senior Service College at the Eisenhower School.
 
COL Power’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), the Army Commendation Medal (3 awards), the Army Achievement Medal (4 awards), the Combat Action Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.  His Sub Compact Weapon Team won the 2019 David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award and he was the National Defense Industrial Association 2014 Military Tester of the Year.
