Dr. Caitlin Dardenne is a Senior Analyst with the Science, Technology Assessment, and Analytics team of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) where she focuses on reviewing scientific programs funded by the U.S. government to produce audit reports and technological assessments for Congressional decision-makers, federal agencies, and the broader public with independent, non-partisan advice on various topics. Her areas of focus include foreign conflicts of interest surrounding U.S. funded research and development including critical and emerging technologies, elements of biological warfare – past and present – and the use, oversight, and control of dangerous chemicals in the U.S. Dr. Dardenne has her PhD in forensic anthropology and genetics and served as an identification specialist for both the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and the City of New York prior to her time at GAO. She is well-versed in the unique aspects of applying broader research and security concerns to the nuances of the military sector.
