Director of Logistics (ECJ4)

Brigadier General (BG) Kent is the Director of Logistics (ECJ4) for the United States European Command. He has served in several challenging joint, special operations, and conventional assignments over 29 years of service while supporting highly sensitive missions and major operations.
BG Kent brings with him a wide range of conventional and non-conventional experience by deploying numerous times worldwide and gained significant joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational experience. Prior to this assignment, he served as the Special Assistant to the Commanding General, Army Materiel Command (AMC) for Acquisition and Programs Management and responsible for the launch of the Army – Food Innovation & Transformation (A-FIT) project –designed to transform the food/nutritional environment for the Army and DoD. He also served as the Executive Officer to the Deputy Commander, AMC.
Prior to that he was the Chief of Sustainment (G4) for 1st CORPS at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington, focusing on training and materiel/equipment readiness for forces operating in the Pacific and the Arctic.
BG Kent commanded the 4th Infantry Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado. His brigade HQs deployed multiple times in support of NORTHCOM and civilian agencies and authorities on five hurricane recovery missions that to included leading initial sustainment and recovery efforts in Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. The following year, his HQs deployed to the border with Mexico in support of Title 10 forces and the Customs and Border Patrol.
Other command experience included two consecutive lieutenant BG level sustainment and logistics command tours at Fort Bragg, North Carolina with the 82nd Airborne Division and with the Special Mission Unit/United States Army Special Operations Command.
As a staff officer, he served in the Joint Staff/J5 Pakistan-Afghanistan Coordination Cell with focus on developing the AF/PAK Hands program and vendor threat/corruption in Afghanistan. He also deployed as the XO to the US Forces Afghanistan DCG-S. Also, he served as the J4 for TF 3-73 (US Navy SMU, Joint Special Operations Command), and for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.
BG Kent earned his Bachelor’s Degree and ROTC commission from the University of Alabama in 1994. He possesses two master’s degrees - one of them in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island and the other in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School at National Defense University in Washington, D.C. In addition, he obtained his certificate in the Advanced Program in Logistics and Technology from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
BG Kent and his wife, Aimee, have three adult children. Emily, Caroline, and Jack. They are die hard Alabama Crimson Tide fans.
