Tech 101: Antenna Technologies
Jonathan Chisum is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He is a member of the Notre Dame Wireless Institute which focuses on interdisciplinary problems in radio technologies and spectrum. Professor Chisum received the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Boulder, Colorado USA, in 2011. He was a Member of Technical Staff at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory in the Wideband Communications and Spectrum Operations groups where his work at Lincoln Laboratory focused on millimeter-wave phased arrays, antennas, and transceiver design for electronic warfare applications. He also worked as an electronics design engineer in the aerospace industry. His research focuses on microwave and millimeter-wave circuits and antennas for communications, radar, spectrum sensing, and directed energy. Dr. Chisum has published over 70 peer reviewed journal and conference papers and is a senior member of the IEEE, an elected Member of the U.S. National Committee (USNC) of the International Union or Radio Science's (URSI) Commissions B (Electromagnetics) and D (electronics and photonics), and currently serves as the Chair for USNC URSI Commission D. He holds eight patents with seven patents pending in the area of wireless circuits and antennas.
