Brig Gen Guy M. Walsh, USAF (Ret.), was named executive vice president and chief operating officer of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) on June 1, 2023.
As COO, Walsh is responsible for day-to-day management of NDIA’s operations, working closely with the executive leadership team and Board of Directors to ensure effective and efficient operations necessary to the conduct of the business plans of NDIA and its affiliates. His previous involvement with NDIA includes a stint as the Chair of the Cyber-Augmented Operations Division, during which he served as the Conference Chair of JADC2 in 2021 and 2022.
Prior to joining NDIA, Walsh served as the founding executive director of the National Security Collaboration Center (NSCC), located at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
Walsh brings a wealth of experience in building strategic alliances between federal and state government, academia, and industry partners. He is among the nation’s foremost leaders in national security as U.S. Cyber Command's first Director of Strategic Initiatives, and the National Guard and Reserve Programs Director.
Walsh has over 20 years of executive level management and operational leadership roles in both national defense and domestic operations (DSCA/DOMOPS) including aerospace operations, cyberspace operations, counterinsurgency and disaster relief and recovery. In addition to his national security expertise, he has significant military operational experience. He has served as a Squadron, Group and Wing Commander in peacetime and combat operations including 100 combat missions and 4,200 flying hours in the A-10C Thunderbolt, C-130J Hercules and F-4 Phantom.
