Mr. Poe was selected as the Joint Project Manager (JPM) for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Special Operations Forces (CBRN SOF), Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense, Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO) in September 2020. In this position, he serves and the senior civilian for leading and directing daily business operations for the JPM CBRN SOF team to rapidly acquire and equip the Special Operations and Special Purpose Forces with critical, capability-gap-filling, chemical, biological, and radiological defense equipment necessary to underwrite mission success.
Prior to reporting to the JPEO, Mr. Poe served as the Team Lead for the Mobility Counter Mobility (MCM) Team, Program Manager (PM) Engineering Systems, Portfolio Manager Logistical Combat Element Systems, Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC). As the MCM Team Lead, he managed a staff of over 25 Civilians, Marines, and Contractors and a portfolio of over 30 programs with over $35M in core and supplemental funding. Mr. Poe also led the divestment of 20 TAMNCs consisting of over 1,000 end items requiring coordination with 10 separate government agencies.
Mr. Poe’s previous assignments was the Team Lead for the Amphibious Reconnaissance Capability’s (ARC) Team, Product Manager (PdM), Reconnaissance and Amphibious Raids (RAR), PM Infantry Weapons Systems (IWS) managing a portfolio with over $30M in core and supplemental funding for acquisition efforts that encompassed over 16 diving and boating programs, both active and sustainment. He also served as a Project Officer for PdM RAR where he managed the Joint Precision Airdrop System 10,000 pounds, 2,000 pounds, Ultra-Light Weight, the Reconnaissance Modular Helmet Kit and sewing machine programs.
Mr. Poe served in the United States Marine Corps for over 20 years and served at the Brigade, Battalion, and Company Level. His assignments include Motor Transport Operator, Motor Transport Chief, Truck Master, and Marine Corps Drill Instructor. He retired from active duty in December 2013.
Mr. Poe successfully completed the Executive Potential Program in 2017. He conducted his developmental assignment at Global Combat Support Systems – Marine Corps (an Acquisition Category I Information Technology program) assisting in the development and implementation of the Post Deployment Systems Support contract valued over $249 million.
Mr. Poe holds an Associate and Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Park University and a Master of Arts Degree in Management & Leadership from Liberty University. He is Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level III certified in Program Management and is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. His awards include the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, Commander’s Excellence in Program Management Team Award (serving as the team lead), Two Meritorious Service Medals, Three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He is married to Ms. Misty Poe, who works for Headquarters Marine Corps, Programs and Resources. He has three children, Joseph, Maleyna, and Elijah.
