Bio

Dr. C. Michael Lindsay is the Technical Advisor of the Energetic Materials Branch, Ordnance Division, Munitions Directorate, U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, Eglin Air Force Base, FL. In this position, he leads the overall technical program of approximately 60 scientists, engineers, and technicians conducting in-house research to develop energetic materials for air delivered weapons applications.

Dr. Lindsay received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Akron in 1996 and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Chicago in 2002. After graduation he became a postdoctoral research and teaching fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joined the Air Force Research Laboratory at Eglin AFB in 2005 as an NRC postdoctoral Research Associate and then as a civil servant in 2006. His research interests lie in the development and application of novel physical chemistry methodologies towards the synthesis and investigation of energetic materials.

Dr. Lindsay has authored over 75 peer-reviewed journals, proceedings, and government and has numerous technology transitions. He is an internationally recognized scientist/engineer on many matters and is well known as being a dynamic and passionate speaker and educator. Dr. Lindsay is an AFRL Fellow (2020), was the 2008 U.S. Air Force Nominee for the Arthur Flemming Award for Excellence in Basic Research, the 2009-2010 Distinguished Visiting Professor of Chemistry at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and a 2013 Frontiers of Engineering Scholar for the National Academy of Engineering.
