Dr. James Sumpter is a senior scientist and principle investigator for the WeaponONE portfolio (Weapons Digital Enterprise, Digital Twin Lab, RogueONE, and Data Prime) and the Digital Engineering Lead at AFRL’s Munitions Directorate, Eglin AFB. He has over 20 years of experience leading technology teams and companies and provides strategic development and technical expertise in digital engineering, digital twins, modeling and simulation, machine learning, data analytics and software development. Known for his creative ideas that deliver practical solutions, Dr. Sumpter’s multi-disciplinary expertise allows him to lead a pathfinder in the Air Force’s Digital, Agile, Open Transformation by employing a wide range of technologies, analytical methods and engineering approaches. He is a published author and presenter in national and international peer reviewed journals, and he has presented his work to national and international forums.
