Director, Advanced Technology, On-Board Processing, and Cyber Space Systems
Exploring Emerging Technologies: Radiation Hardened Technology, an Industry Perspective
Dave has worked for BAE Systems and heritage companies for 35 years and is currently a program management Director in the Space Systems product line. In this role he is responsible for the development and product insertion of semiconductor technologies, radiation hardened microelectronics, and processing systems leveraging the aforementioned semiconductor technologies and microelectronics products. Dave’s organization developed the BAE Systems RH45® family of radiation hardened processors, networking components, and ASICs leveraging Trusted 45nm silicon on insulator technology.
Prior to this position, he was the Deputy Director for Engineering in the then Space Systems and Electronics (SS&E) business area. For seven years prior to that position he was a line manager and technical lead in the Electrical Engineering function. Before management, Mr. Rea worked as an electrical design engineer and has experience at many levels of hardware design ranging from deep sub-micron transistor design to full unit design. The most notable component design program was the development of the RAD750® microprocessor and the most notable unit program was the Asia Cellular Satellite (ACeS) Channelizer.
Dave received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Master of Business Administration from George Mason University. In 2008/2009, he attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces at the National Defense University where he was designated Distinguished Graduate and received a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy. Dave is Program Management Professional certified through the Program Management Institute.
