Bio
Dr. Michelle Rozo is the Assistant Director for Biotechnology within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), where she leads biotechnology modernization for the DoD. Previously, Dr. Rozo was the Deputy Assistant Director for Biotechnology where she was the strategic initiatives lead for biotechnology modernization. Prior to OUSD(R&E), Dr. Rozo held a number of roles as a Science and National Security Advisor at the U.S. Department of State, and U.S. Senate, focused on working with international and domestic partners to promote and protect the U.S. Bioeconomy. Dr. Rozo began her career as a staff scientist with the Naval Medical Research Center, where she investigated 'omics'-based biomarkers of infectious diseases. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Biology and Global Health from Northwestern University.
