Pete is currently assigned to the Test Resource Management Center as the Director of the National Cyber Range (NCR). In that role he is responsible for the overall execution of Cybersecurity Test & Evaluation (T&E) and Training events conducted at the NCR, Program Management of the NCR Contract and NCR Complex expansion.

Previously, Pete was employed by the MITRE Corporation most recently serving as the Test and Evaluation Portfolio Manager. In that role he was responsible for coordinating Test and Evaluation Activities for several Acquisition and Technology and Logistics and Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Sponsors. Pete supported the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Developmental Test and Evaluation (DASD DT&E), the Test Management Resource Center (TRMC) and the OSD, Director of Operational Test and Evaluation (OSD DOT&E). Pete also served in the full spectrum of Technical and Managerial Leadership Roles as a Task Lead, Project Lead, Site Lead and Department Head. From 2001 through 2006, Pete served as an IPA with the Marine Corps Operational Test and Evaluation Activity as the Assistant Scientific Advisor and in 2006 as the Scientific Advisor. Pete led two Operational Test Agency Commander Initiatives one to address Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) of Information Assurance and a follow on initiative to address the Interoperability Testing. Concurrent with leading those initiatives, Pete provided oversight and direction to the OT&E for more than 50 different C4ISR Programs in various stages of acquisition and testing major defense acquisition programs including the M777 Lightweight 155 Howitzer and Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle.   

Pete retired from the U.S. Navy in 1995. He had a wide range of assignments as a Naval Flight Officer flying over 2200 Hours and 550 Carrier Landings in EA-6B Prowlers. His last Navy assignment was as a Program Manager in the Advanced Tactical Aircraft Protection Systems Program Office where he managed three Electronic Warfare programs. His last operational flying tour was with VAQ-136 on USS Midway.

Pete is an active member of NDIA, Association of Old Crows, and the International Test and Evaluation Association (ITEA).

Pete is an Adjunct Professor at Capitol Technology University in Laurel Md.. He teaches courses in the Cybersecurity Master’s Program on Network Systems Security Concepts and Malicious Software. 

Pete is married to Maryanne Friedrichs, from Menasha Wisconsin. He has three children, Kristina, Christopher and Carsten.
