NDIA and The Society Of Indian Defence Manufacturers Announce Cooperation Agreement

National Defense Industrial Association and The Society Of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM)

The MoU was inked at the INDUS X Summit in Washington, DC.

ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association and The Society Of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) announced the signing of a cooperation agreement, effective from June 21st. NDIA and SIDM recognize each other as the associations that represent the full range of the defense and security industry in their respective countries.

NDIA and SIDM will share information of mutual interest and will coordinate, wherever practical, on mutually relevant issues and programs. Shri. Anurag Bajpai, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Government of India said of the agreement: "The Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers and the National Defense Industrial Association joining hands at the inaugural INDUS X Summit in Washington DC, as the two world leaders come together, is an important step in catalyzing the US-India defense ecosystem. We look forward to defense industry and startups from both countries engaging closely to accelerate innovation and technology."

 

“With the globalization of the defense and aerospace industry, it is clear that international inter-association recognition and cooperation will reinforce mutual objectives, foster cooperation and achieve economies of effort,” Michael Bayer, chair of NDIA said. The signing was attended by Shuchita Sonalika, director of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Anurag Bajpai, Joint Secretary (DIP) Ministry of Defence and Brig Gen (Ret.) Guy Walsh, Executive Vice President, NDIA.

The Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) has established itself as India’s only defense industry association. Today, it plays a proactive role as an advocate, catalyst, and facilitator for the growth and capability building of the domestic aerospace and defense sector. The Society represents the spectrum of defense and aerospace manufacturers across in India, covering both the public and the private sectors. Its membership constitutes of large companies, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (FOEMs), start-ups, and academic institutions across India. SIDM provides technical support via subject-matter experts and conducts regular workshops & short courses on procedures and regulatory affairs, such as its flagship Defence Acquisition Management Course (DAMC).
