ARLINGTON, VA – The National Defense Industrial Association offers the following statement on the departure of Marillyn Hewson as president and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp.

Hewson’s tenure at Lockheed Martin was remarkable, and it was an honor to work with her. Under her leadership, we saw the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter take the company – and our military – to new heights. Her vision for Lockheed Martin, crafted from her many years there, and her insight and experience with the defense industry made her an incredible executive and stalwart leader. She was a true champion of the defense industrial base, and NDIA wishes her well in her next endeavors.

In 2016, NDIA awarded Hewson its highest industry award, the James Forrestal Industry Leadership Award for her steadfast, career-long support and advocacy for a strong, responsive and resilient defense industrial base.

NDIA welcomes Hewson’s successor, James Taiclet, an Air Force Academy alum and former Air Force officer, and looks forward to continued work with him and Lockheed Martin.
