NDIA extols Congress’ move to avert federal shutdown
ARLINGTON, VA -- The National Defense Industrial Association commends both chambers of Congress for their hard work in preventing another government shutdown. The continuing resolution is a good start to negotiating a successful pathway moving forward.
As the continuing resolution provides funding through November 21, members must bear in mind the implications of additional continuing resolutions and the risks they pose to our national defense.
As the House and Senate continue to discuss next year’s spending bills, it is imperative they quickly find bipartisan support for the National Defense Authorization Act and the Defense Appropriations Act of 2020. Without these two important bills passing both chambers, our military will be forced to choose between enhancing warfighting capabilities or improving readiness recovery efforts.
NDIA hopes these positive conversations can lead to stable and predictable funding for our military needs. Without these two important bills passing both chambers, our nation’s military must live under prior guidance, unable to make needed capability investments while industry -- and ultimately taxpayers -- shoulder the dollar and personnel costs of inefficiency.
