NDIA leads industry response on defense procurement regulations review
The National Defense Industrial Association led comments that a group of five associations representing federal contractors submitted this week.
The comments of the Council of Defense and Space Industry Associations (CODSIA) provide feedback on 100 solicitation provisions and contract clauses in the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) that do one or more of the following:
- Eliminate jobs or inhibit job creation
- Are outdated, unnecessary, or ineffective
- Impose costs that exceed benefits
- Create serious inconsistency or interfere with regulatory reform initiatives
- Rely on data, information, or methods that are not publically available or that are insufficiently transparent
- Derive from or implement executive orders or other presidential directives that have been subsequently rescinded or substantially modified.
The group’s comments will help inform the deliberations of the DFARS Subgroup to the Department of Defense Regulatory Reform Task Force, established by Executive Order 13777, “Enforcing the Regulatory Reform Agenda.”
Under the executive order, agency task forces are responsible for implementing regulatory reform initiatives and polices, and identifying regulations for repeal, replacement, or modification.
