NDIA’s Emerging Technologies Institute has announced a public launch of its newest report, Hypersonics Supply Chains: Securing the Path to the Future. The event will take place virtually on May 11 from 1:00-3:00 pm.

COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine have exposed the fact that the United States faces substantial supply chain vulnerabilities and weaknesses. Nearly every sector has been affected, including defense emerging technologies.

ETI launched an in-depth research study focused on technology supply chains with the goal of assessing their current state and providing actionable policy recommendations for their development, health, and resilience. The first focus technology is hypersonic systems. Hypersonic systems, specifically maneuvering missiles flying at least five times the speed of sound, or Mach 5, within the Earth’s atmosphere, can deliver long-range lethal effects on short time scales, and are a central component of the Department of Defense’s modernization efforts.

Please join us virtually on May 11 from 1:00-3:00 pm for our public report launch, where the lead author will present key findings and recommendations from the report. This will be followed by a panel of representatives from industry, government, and academia who will discuss important implications for hypersonic supply chains in various areas, including:

  • Manufacturing Base
  • Supply of Critical Materials
  • Testing Infrastructure
  • Workforce
